What an anagram solver does
An anagram uses every letter exactly once. LISTEN becomes SILENT, ENLIST, INLETS, ELINTS and TINSEL. This page defaults to that strict mode so newspaper jumbles, quiz clues and “rearrange these letters” homework do not drown in ninety shorter subset words. The felt-green Find words button runs ENABLE entirely in your browser.
If you also want the leftover shorts — TIN, LIT, SET — switch to All words on the main unscrambler. Anagram mode is for exact rearrangements; subset mode is for Scrabble dumps.
Worked ENABLE anagrams
LISTEN → SILENT, ENLIST, INLETS, TINSEL, ELINTS (and LISTEN itself). HTML list: /unscramble/listen.
ORCHESTRA → CARTHORSE and other full-length ENABLE anagrams. Useful as a classroom demo because the scramble looks impossible until the horse appears.
AEINRST → RETAINS, STAINER, STEARIN and related seven-letter ENABLE entries. Stem students meet this rack early; see /unscramble/aeinrst and bingo stems.
EAGLE → worked example page at /unscramble/eagle for a shorter rack with everyday letters.
STRESSED → DESSERTS among other rearrangements people quote; try it in the box in anagram mode when you want the party trick confirmed against ENABLE.
Jumble captions and circled letters
Daily Jumble-style puzzles ask for several short anagrams, then a bonus phrase from circled letters. Solve each scramble here or on the jumble solver, note the circled letters, then paste only those leftovers back into anagram mode for the caption. Do not paste the entire comic transcript — the solver is a letter engine, not a cartoon database.
Anagrams versus patterns
If you already know positions, use the crossword solver. If you are mid-Wordle with yellows, use the Wordle helper. Anagrams assume every letter is fuel and none are fixed in place unless you switch mode.
Dictionary honesty
ENABLE is public-domain. It will not match every cryptic crossword proper noun or every club book. When a flashy candidate is missing, trust your tournament list if you are playing under one. For casual quizzes and teaching, ENABLE is transparent and free of copyright traps.
Ads
Advertisements, when Google serve them, render under the tool panel only. The letter box and result tiles stay usable on a phone with thumbs.
Classroom and quiz-host workflow
Pick a target with exactly one tidy ENABLE anagram if you want a single correct ticket answer, or several if you want a scavenger list. Confirm with this page, scramble the letters on the worksheet, and keep the answer key offline until marking. Rich demos: LISTEN, ORCHESTRA, AEINRST, EAGLE, AIRBAG, PALLET — each already has a companion narrative elsewhere on the site.
When students get stuck, ask whether they need a full anagram or any subset. That single question decides between this page and the homepage. Mixing the modes mid-explanation is how lists become confusing.
Multi-word phrases
Phrase anagrams that reshuffle letters across word boundaries are a different computational job. This solver does not attempt “eleven letters into a three-word slogan” search. Keep tokens separate for Daily Jumble-style work, then anagram the circled residue.
Editorial standards
We describe what ENABLE contains and what the modes do. We do not invent solver accuracy percentages, traffic claims, or fake testimonials. The operator is HDK Distribution Ltd (UK). Feedback lands at /feedback.
FAQ
Why do I see fewer words than on the homepage?
Anagram mode hides subsets. Switch to All words for shorts.
Are spaces allowed?
This page solves one token. For multi-word newspaper piles, solve each word, then the leftovers.
Does order of input matter?
No. Letters are counted, not kept in order.
Blank tiles?
Use ? for blanks (up to two). Guide: blank tiles.
