Scrabble score calculator

Score one word. Mark blanks and premium squares yourself. The bingo is added after the word multiplier.

Score a word

Type the word, then set DL or TL on a letter and tick Blank where a blank tile stands in. ? is also a blank.

The total will show here.

How to score a word

  1. Type the word as it sits on the board. Use a letter for a blank, then tick Blank, or type ?.
  2. Set DL or TL on any letter that covers a premium square. Choose the word premium if the word covers one.
  3. Press Score word. Letter premiums apply first. The word premium multiplies that sum. The bingo is added last, and it is not multiplied.

English Scrabble face values: 1 for A E I O U L N R S T, 2 for D G, 3 for B C M P, 4 for F H V W Y, 5 for K, 8 for J X, 10 for Q Z. A blank is 0 on any square. Words With Friends uses a different table — switch Game if that is what you are playing. QUIZ with no premiums is 22 in Scrabble (Q 10, U 1, I 1, Z 10) and 23 in Words With Friends, because U is worth 2 there.

This page cannot see the board, so it does not guess premiums. The Scrabble word finder lists every word from a rack at face value only, for the same reason. When you press Score word, the spelling is checked against the public ENABLE list in this browser. A missing word still shows a tile total, because a house rule might allow it. Tournament lists differ by a few entries.

FAQ

Does the bingo get doubled by a word premium?

No. Premiums on letters apply first, then the word premium multiplies that sum. The 50-point Scrabble bingo, or 35 in Words With Friends, is added afterwards.

How do blank tiles score?

A blank scores 0. Tick Blank under the letter it stands for, or type ?. A blank on a double-letter square is still 0.

Which word list is this checked against?

The same ENABLE list as the unscrambler, loaded when you press Score word. It is not the NASPA or Collins tournament list.

Can this see my board?

No. You mark the premiums. The calculator only adds the squares you choose.
