Word checker
Type a word. We check the ENABLE list (~168,000 words) in this browser and show the Scrabble score, meaning, anagrams and hooks. Nothing is sent to a server.
A meaning and hooks show when it matches.
Word checker
Dictionary: ENABLE, loading words.
What this checker is for
Rivals bury “is this a word?” inside the unscrambler. This page is the direct answer: tap a candidate, see valid or not, then jump to anagrams of the same tiles. ENABLE is public-domain and close to casual Scrabble; it is not NASPA TWL or Collins CSW.
Worked examples: QI is valid (11 pts). XYZZY is not. LISTEN is valid and has five other full anagrams.
How to read the result
Valid means the exact string is in ENABLE. You also get a Scrabble face-value score (blanks not involved on this page), a short gloss when the built-in gloss list knows the word, anagrams of the same letters, and hooks — letters you can add at the front or back to make another ENABLE word. Hooks are study tools for bingo practise; they are not a promise your club book allows the extension.
Tournament lists vs ENABLE
NASPA TWL (North America) and Collins CSW (UK and many overseas clubs) are copyrighted. We do not copy them. ENABLE is public domain and overlaps heavily with casual play. If you are preparing for a rated club night, check the doubtful word in the paper book or the licensed digital list your director names. Kitchen-table games and teaching kids QI and ZA are exactly what this page is for.
Worked checks worth knowing
- ZA — valid, 11 points, the other famous two-letter Z play beside QI.
- MUZJIKS — a high-value ENABLE seven; confirm against your club book before you celebrate in a tournament.
- EUOUAE — a famous vowel string; see whether ENABLE lists it before you argue at the table.
- Invalid novelty spellings and brand names usually fail here. That is intentional.
After a “not in ENABLE”
Tap through to the unscrambler with the same letters. You may still have a legal dump that is shorter, or a full anagram you mistyped. Pair with how to unscramble when the rack is the real problem, not a single candidate word.
FAQ
Is QI a word?
Yes. QI is in ENABLE and scores 11 points. It is the two-letter Q dump with no U. Check it above, or see the Q without U list.
Is this the official Scrabble word list?
No. This checker uses ENABLE (~168,000 public-domain words). NASPA TWL and Collins CSW are copyrighted tournament lists and differ by a few entries. Club play should trust the tournament book.
How do I check if a Wordle guess is valid?
Type the five-letter word here. If ENABLE lists it, it is a reasonable guess. Wordle’s own allowed-guess list is slightly different. Pair with the Wordle helper for greens and greys.
What if the word is invalid?
You will see “Not in ENABLE”. Tap Unscramble these letters to see every valid word those tiles can make instead.
